I had such an amazing time exploring Farleigh Dickinson University‘s Madison, New Jersey campus with Rachel and Tymiak for their engagement session! These two have such beautiful and infectious laughs and are just so much fun to hang out with! I actually got connected with Ty through my family!
They were at Verizon doing some phone stuff a while back and somehow got to discussing with Ty, who was working there at the time, that he was engaged! My grandma was the one who plugged me, from what I heard, and he ended up reaching out to chat about their wedding day! Once they officially found a date, they reached back out to confirm and made it officially official! <3 So, major shout out to my grandma and family for being so supportive and sharing my name with engaged employees at Verizon! 😉 YAY!
Rachel and Tymiak met at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Ty was on his recruit visit to the school for basketball and he spotted Rachel in the basketball gym during her team’s practice. Ty says he was trying to focus on his visit, but after seeing her, he just knew that there was something special about her!
My favorite part of the story is that Ty was wearing pink sneakers, so he changed his Facebook profile picture to a picture of his sneakers before friend requesting her so she would know who he was! They got to know each other while he was still living in Virginia, and after some time, they decided to date and became the ‘love and basketball’ couple of college!
Ty set a plan to propose at homecoming in the gym where they first met. Everyone was in on the plan except Rachel, of course. Their families, friends, coaches, and teammates were all there! For her, it was a normal trip back to school for homecoming, but Ty was definitely a little nervous.
He said, “We have a drape that divides the gym so I hid our family and friends back there, and our coaches and teammates were just ending practice. She walked in the gym and I asked her to shoot with me and then I gave everyone the secret signal to come from behind the drape and make a lot of noise. She turned around to see what was going on and in that split second I pulled the ring from my pocket and got down on a knee to propose.” Too stinking cute and so fun going back to where their love story began!
You two are incredible and I’m so thankful that you reached out years ago to make this all happen! Ty, thank you for pushing through not feeling to great during the session and to Rachel for supporting and taking care of him while you two looked adorable during your session! I seriously can’t wait for your big day in September at The Westin Governor Morris, Morristown!
