Their Session: Cape May, New Jersey

Oh my goodness, this Cape May boat engagement session truly made my whole summer!! Carly and Hunter planned a date night that was so true to them – beers, bikes, and boats! They have such a connection to Cape May, so it only made sense to meet up at one of their favorite breweries, Cape May Brewing Co., to start their session! After chugging their beers, we headed to the marina for their sunset boat ride. They brought their bikes, which made for adorable and playful moments together! Then, off to the boat where we set off for a ride on the bay.

This boat was stunning, and the views just kept getting better and better! They even surprised Carly and Hunter with a bottle of champagne, which was such a thoughtful gift to celebrate! I’m so glad these two are so adventurous so we could utilize every inch of space we had! This was the perfect way to end the evening for a water-loving duo!

Their Love Story

Hunter and Carly knew each other in high school when he sat behind her in math class! They reconnected years later in college when Carly slipped and fell into him at a Sublime concert after a rainstorm! They officially became boyfriend and girlfriend in the summer of 2016, and have been inseparable ever since!

Hunter and Carly’s mom came up with the surprise proposal plan together! Since Carly and Hunter go to Cape May every fall, her Mom surprised her with a cute bungalow hotel for them to stay at together on the beach. She had actually thought he was going to propose a few months prior to their fall Cape May trip when they were in Rhode Island on a boat ride! Of course, Hunter knew he would be proposing that weekend down the shore, which totally caught her off guard!

He suggested they go to the lighthouse because they had never seen it before! So, they walked on the windy beach when he pointed out a boulder in the distance to walk toward! She was walking ahead him when he asked her to turn around. He knew she had been waiting for a while for this moment and asked: “Will you be my wife?” which melted Carly’s heart! Her best friend was the only other person who knew about the proposal because she was there to photograph that special moment for them!!

Hunter adores how caring and positive Carly is! He said she is his best friend and always keeps him laughing! Carly shared that she loves how “Hunter always has a big smile on his face as soon as I get home from work.” They always say ‘I love you’ before leaving or hanging up the phone! ❤️
