The engagement session is a super important part of the experience I provide, which is why I feel so strongly about including it complimentary in my wedding collection! There are so many reasons why an engagement session with your wedding photographer is so valuable leading up to your wedding day!

It helps me get to know you better!

I love getting to know my couples on a personal level and becoming friends along the way! I truly feel like creating a genuine connection is what makes the whole experience so memorable and meaningful. Your engagement session is the perfect time to really get to know each other in a relaxed and stress-free environment! Think of it as a fun way for you two to reconnect in a fun date-like setting and for me to connect with you two at the same time!

A Chance to Get Comfortable In Front of My Lens

Even if my couples have already done an engagement session with another photographer, I still always encourage them to do another session with me, because every photographer works so differently. The engagement session is a great opportunity for you to become familiar with the way I shoot and for you to feel more comfortable in front of my camera.

A mini photoshoot immediately after your proposal is, of course, SO special to have. However, it truly doesn’t compare to the full experience of an engagement session that you prep and plan for!

We’ll Figure Out What Makes You Feel Your Best!

During your engagement session, we’ll learn your best angles, favorite poses/directions, and find whatever makes you both feel most natural and like yourselves when the camera is on you. Plus, once your wedding day arrives, we’ll know what poses and prompts you both love the most and incorporate those into your portraits!

After working with hundreds of couples, I can tell when something feels more natural. We play around and try so many different movements, activities, and ideas, so that I can get a feel for who you two truly are and what highlights your connection best!

You’ll Feel like Pros on Your Wedding Day

Since you’ll already know what it feels like to be in front of my camera and what movements, positions, angles, etc. you like best, you’ll feel like total pros on your wedding day!

This makes taking pictures feel smooth, natural, and enjoyable. I find that we can work more quickly if needed to get all the photos you want, because you’ll feel more prepared and experienced!

Engagement Session = Date Night

Think of your engagement session not as something you HAVE to do before the wedding, but as a fun date night you GET to do! A date night where you just so happen to also get cute photos together!

Your session is a few fun, relaxed hours of you two just being present together. Plus, all the kisses, laughter, and cuddles I can get outta ya!

I love that it’s totally customizable to be something you both actually love doing – not just some stiff, awkward photos at a random park. I always encourage my couples to choose personal locations or something fun they love to do, outfits that feel like them, and to grab drinks before or after to wrap their whole date night up perfectly! A few hours of kissing and being in love? Sounds like a good time to me! 🙂

Get All the Use Out of Your Engagement Photos

Your engagement session photos are great for creating your Save-the-Dates, wedding website, guest books, decor, and fun displays at the wedding! I always love seeing how my couples incorporate their engagement photos into their wedding day. It’s a fun way to bring your guests into your lives and the story of your engagement!

Even before or after your wedding day, your engagement photos are perfect for displaying in your home, too! My couples still love posting and sharing their engagement session photos even after the wedding day – they’re a timeless document of such a special and exciting time in your lives!

Your engagement session is truly one of the most exciting parts of the process, aside from your big day, of course! We always have such a blast just hanging in a stress-free, chill environment. It’s so special to capture you two falling in love all over again, which makes for the sweetest photos and an amazing time. I love getting to hang with my couples multiple times before their wedding day, so when I show up on their big day, we’re not total strangers, and we can hug like old friends. xo
