Their Session: Central Park, NYC

Life is pretty crazy sometimes – I never would have thought that I’d get to see Kim again after so many years and even get to photograph her beautiful family! I went to a photography camp called JKCP at Temple University back when I was around 15. They had us stay at UPenn dorms and brought counselors in from all over the world! That’s how I met this lovely lady right here! Kim was one of the counselors who I really connected with while I was there and she is from Scotland, so naturally, she had the BEST accent that I was so jealous of! We remained Facebook friends and Instagram followers over the years, so I knew she had gotten married and had a little baby recently! She reached out to me when her family of 4 was planning a trip to New York this January! Kim and her husband, Calum (a wedding photographer himself!) wanted to plan a family session with their little ones, Amy and Kit, so that they could always remember their holiday in NY!

I rarely photograph families, but couldn’t help but say yes to this adorable family. We had so much fun catching up and exploring Central Park on this unusually warm January day! This session was such a full-circle moment for me that totally made me realize that literally ANYONE could be in front of my lens one day. It is such a humbling thought and just amazing how life works out!

Their Love Story

Kim and Calum met online and they have the CUTEST proposal story! Kim says that, “Calum proposed to me at an outdoor cinema showing of Beauty and the Beast! He bought me a rose in a jar like the film and put my ring in with it. He had recorded earlier in the day a video of Amy asking me to marry him. It is the cutest video, we actually showed Amy the other day and she can’t remember doing it.. but loved it.” My favorite part of the story though, is when Amy, their little girl, asked if Kim said yes or no to the proposal, to which they told her they were married and asked her what she thought! So darn cute!

Their favorite things to do together as a family are watching movies, eating out, and going to the trampoline park! They also LOVE to go camping in the summer up in the Scottish highlands! Their mutual love of Disney ensures that most of their abroad holidays end up being in the Disney Parks!
