Their Session: Blairstown, NJ

I loved getting to explore this gorgeous area that Amanda and Ryan go to all the time. These were Ryan’s stomping grounds his whole life, and he started taking Amanda here when they started dating! What I loved about it is that even though the Delaware Water Gap area is MASSIVE, these two had THEIR spots. They just felt so comfortable. They knew where their favorite ferns were. The route to get to their favorite waterfalls and hidden gem spots were second nature to them. They both had stories to share from growing up and falling in love. This session just felt so natural and real, because exploring this area is something they’ve been doing together for years!

Their Love Story

Amanda and Ryan met through a mutual friend from high school. Amanda says that Ryan’s friend Lew had texted her (and I quote! :P) “My friend Ryan Catton thinks you’re a babe and you should text him.” The BEST part though is that Amanda told him that Ryan would have to text her instead, and of course he did! After their first day of texting, Amanda learned that Ryan was a total biology nerd and knew that she HAD to meet him!

While Amanda was completing a Veterinary rotation out in Boulder, CO, Ryan flew in from New Jersey to spend the week with her. Together they visited the Fourth of July Trailhead in Nederland, CO two days later and decided to go hiking! After 3 miles on the trail, Amanda had to take a pit stop, so Ryan took this opportunity to secretly ask some strangers to take a picture as he was going to propose! Amanda told me how they “came to a clearing where you could see beautiful peaks and he asked if I wanted to take a picture so of course I said yes. He followed behind me and then told me to turn around, when I turned around he was on one knee with the ring.”

You two are a freaking blast and a half!! I LOVED getting to explore and adventure with you. Thank you for showing me your favorite spots and for going along with all of my wild ideas to show it off!
