Their Wedding Day: The Water Witch Club

Everything little detail and moment from this fall Water Witch Club wedding day was an absolute dream! If you’re lucky enough to know Kristen and Mike, you know they know how to really do it up, so their wedding was one of the most unique and special days I’ve ever photographed!

Truly, every detail was so meticulous, thoughtful, creative, and just beautiful. Kristen works in the wedding industry and knows wedding decor quiteee well, so I just knew it would be next level! 🙂

I started the morning with Kristen and Mike at their home with their pup, Bacon! It was such a sweet way to start the day – comfy clothes, coffee, and getting so excited for the best day ever!

Then, we headed over to the venue to start getting ready, and I was wow-ed by their unique and thoughtful details from minute one.

The venue itself has so much charm, and everywhere you turn there was a historic or creative touch! They had a blank canvas and free rein to create the day of their dreams, so they decked out every room and space with florals, candles, and special details!

My faves were their custom hot sauce bottles and their floral-covered disco ball! The cozy blanket cart, the beer and seltzer boat, and the coffee bar open all night were also so unique!

I love that they kept the flow of the day so organic. There were no rigid start and end times for cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, etc. It felt like a giant cocktail party all night long! Their massive charcuterie table was such a statement moment and all their guests loved the free-flowing food service. They had so much variety of comfort foods, and of course, a hot sauce wall!

They picked The Water Witch Club because of the historic building and the fact that you can see Sandy Hook (where their first date was) from the property! It was the perfect location to tie the knot! I love how these two are truly just best friends through and through. They can make each other laugh in an instant and they just get each other so well. It’s been so special getting to photograph their love story – obsessed is an understatement!

Their Love Story

When Kristen and Mike first met online, she remembered his profile said 6’7″ and likes dark liquor – she was like “OHHHH HELLL this is my man!!!” On their first date, he picked her up from her house, opened the door for her, brought a blanket, one glass and a bottle of whiskey (her favorite)!

She said, “We sat there and talked for hours just sharing the glass watching the sunset. It was like we had known each other for ever. I seriously never wanted to settle down before I met him but to sound totally cliché, I knew after that first date I was going to marry him.”

Their proposal was so sweet and intimate. They were going out to dinner for Kristen’s birthday and as they were getting ready, Mike asked what she was going to wear. She looked at him and said “this.” He was standing in their closet with his hands up on the shelf like he was reaching for a sweatshirt or something and he said, “what if you wear this instead?” and that’s when he pulled out the ring! Kristen cried and was sooo happy he finally did it! They took whiskey shots and took a picture with their dog to celebrate the moment!

Kristen and Mike,

Thank you so much for choosing me to document your love from engagement to dreamy wedding day. You know we have a mutual love of all the details, so I was in photographer heaven capturing your love and your creativity! I cannot wait to see where this adventure takes you two and Bacon next! Congratulations!!! <3
