I don’t think enough positive words exist to describe these two humans right here. I am seriously blown away by Kaelyn and Veronica as people, as soulmates, and as friends! Kaelyn reached out to me and told me that the priority for their wedding day is “good food, booze, and dancing,” so I pretty much said, “I’m there no matter what.” After chatting a bit more over FaceTime and meeting their adorable pup, Stella, I just KNEW they were meant to be one of my couples. I was so pumped when they booked, and I seriously had been counting down the days for this engagement session!
I could instantly see how well their personalities mesh from their sense of humor to how deeply they care for one another. It showed through so vibrantly in just the few hours that I got to hang with them for their engagement session. I walked into their apartment and heard Paramore playing and said that I love Paramore, and Kaelyn told me that Veronica said, “I hope she likes Paramore or she’s fired” HAHA. Good thing I’ve always been obsessed. 😂 I got to meet the real deal lady herself, Stella, and she certainly did not disappoint. That furbaby is a ball of excitement and SO stinkin’ cute – I couldn’t wait for them to take pictures with her. We first headed out to a local restaurant, Villalobos, where they had gone on their first date, and thankfully, they allowed us to use whatever we wanted in the restaurant. They ate some guac and chips and wrote love notes to each other to save for later before heading over to a little, hidden garden in the area! I barely had to direct these two, they naturally fell into such adorable, authentic positions that I mostly just let them do their thing! I love when couples are so in love that they can kind of just ignore the camera and enjoy the time together as fiancés. Wedding planning can be overwhelming and take over a year or so of your life, so taking a few hours to slow down and just be in love can be super reviving!
We headed back over to their apartment for a quick change and some Stella time! They showed me how when they hug each other, Stella always sneaks in between their legs. It was so cute, I couldn’t stop smiling while I was shooting their little family! We hit all the spots for their session – next up, we went to Kaelyn’s childhood home where her parents live, and they read those love notes to each other just before attacking each other with champagne! Kaelyn posted one of the sneak peek pictures on Instagram from their champagne fights and said, “If you’re not covered in Prosecco at the end of your engagement photos you’re doing it all wrong” Uh, yep. Agreed! We ended the night with them jumping into a neighbor’s pool, and holy moly, I am freaking obsessed!!!
Veronica is a craft beer manager and Kaelyn is a yoga instructor who compliment one another perfectly. I think anyone who knows them would agree – they’re a power couple that lights up a room when they’re together. Their proposal story was seriously one of my favorites, as well! Kaelyn told me, “We had the weekend off and were up in Port Chester, NY for a concert. Before the concert we went to Captain Lawrence Brewery, which was the first brewery we ever went to together. She’s knows a few of the people there and one of the guys invited us to check out a new beer in the barrel room, when we got back there he said that he needed to go grab us an extra glass and excused himself. Once he did, Veronica turned around and said “Jack doesn’t have a special beer for us to try, he brought us back here so I could do this in private”, and then she asked me to spend the rest of my life with her. I don’t even think I said yes, I just kind of laughed and cried and kissed her. What she didn’t know was that about two weeks beforehand I had purchased an engagement ring for her, once she asked me I planned to ask when we were at dinner later that night but as soon as we got to our hotel room I couldn’t contain myself and asked her back right there, and she obviously said yes! It was perfect. We went to the concert, had some drinks and then ate a dominoes pizza at like 2 am haha.” How perfect are they?!
Kaelyn and Veronica, thank you for making me laugh your entire session and for being so truly in love for the sweetest pictures! I hope you love alllll of them! I can’t wait for your big day next September, you two are amazing!! Love you both <3
