Oh goodness, here comes another incredible couple and an engagement session that I cannot stop smiling about!! Daniella and I had known each other just through Instagram for years. She is a fellow photographer from a nearby town who I have only ever known through photos! Years ago, I had a little business venture where I hand-sewed scarfs into kimonos and sold them over on Instagram (yeah… booming high school business lol). I did a giveaway and Daniella won, so she drove on over to my house and picked up her kimono! All I remember is seeing her little VW Beetle drive by and I immediately thought she had to be the coolest human ever – I was right! This girl has a heart of gold and so much love to give, and once I met Zack, I could immediately see why they are so perfect for each other!
Last summer, Daniella took photos of me frolicking through an overgrown field that you can see over on my website, and when we sat down at Starbucks to look at them, Zack joined us. They told me a little bit about their story and I got to know them as boyfriend and girlfriend. They met when Daniella was just 12 years old and Zack was 14! They had dated in high school, and although it wasn’t the right time then, they reconnecting when Zack was graduating from college three years later and their relationship was completely rewritten!
At the beginning of 2018, Zack and Daniella went to Puerto Rico for Daniella’s first mission trip ever. On the trip, Zack asked her to spend forever together! I remember Daniella posting a picture of her ring on her Instagram story and I replied, “IS THIS WHAT I THINK IT IS,” with a bunch of heart-eye emojis and she sent back a big “YES” with a bunch of crying emojis!!! My heart was bursting with excitement for such a laidback, honest, genuine, and incredibly kind couple.
Their engagement session was so perfectly them. They love hanging out at coffee shops and reading their Bibles, so we headed over to this really awesome cafe in Asbury Park right on the boardwalk and started their session there. I thought I might feel nervous about photographing another photographer, but it felt so normal and natural since they just fell into perfect poses so easily. We walked along the windy boardwalk and got some adorable shots before heading onto the beach for some casual rolling in the sand and walking along the shoreline photos. These troopers were up for all of my crazy ideas from literally rolling on top of each other in the sand to slow dance twirling on slippery rocks! I think the pictures are well worth how sticky and gross we all felt after this session ;)!
Daniella and Zack, I hope you adore these images as much as I do (hopefully more than I do!) and look back on this time in your lives years from now with so much joy! There’s a quote that goes, “Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same” and these two lovebirds embody that fully. I cannot wait for your wedding day coming up soon – it is going to be SO magical! Love you both so much! <3
