Loyola University Baltimore Maryland Engagement Session New Jersey Wedding Photographer

If these faces look familiar to you, you’ve probably seen their proposal story (hey, thanks for sticking around)! I got to be a part of Greg and Patricia’s (P for short) surprise proposal back in February, which was such a heartwarming and incredible experience. But their love story doesn’t start there, of course!

Greg and Patricia lived on the same floor freshman year of college at Loyola University Maryland. As the first semester progressed, his roommates and friends became close with her roommates and friends. Greg and P became friends first and they got to know each other through dorm life. They soon became homework and church buddies. We would spend countless hours together studying and hanging out. P told me she remembers falling asleep on his shoulder while watching movies with their roommates. Eventually, they both fell in love and starting dating second semester. Over winter break, they would stay up late on Skype talking until 2 in the morning just getting to know each other. I remember them mentioning how special those Skype chats were to them in their proposal video!

Although I could tell you all about the proposal from my point of view, hearing it from P is so much sweeter! As a quick overview, in case you didn’t see the proposal post, Greg is my brother’s best friend, and they started dreaming up ideas of how Greg could propose. A year before, I had made a video for a class project where I asked questions to 5 different couples and compiled them together. Greg and P had seen it at the time and really loved it, so they came up with the idea that I was making another version of the video for a new project.

She said, “I found out earlier in the week we were going to do a day trip to AC to help you with your senior project. I was oddly free and was excited to go to AC to have a fun weekend. We started the day off together with getting Moe’s (our favorite chain restaurant). Greg and I would go to Moe’s twice daily sometimes in college. We love to go and get our usual meals and just talk about life. Then we drove together the hour down to the shore.

It was a really amazing afternoon and in hindsight, I can’t believe Greg kept his cool the whole time we were together and didn’t lead me on to the surprise. The car ride there we talked about how nervous I was to be on camera because I didn’t want to ruin your project by stuttering or saying the wrong thing. I even tried to look up your original video to prepare but I couldn’t find it. When we started filming I was mainly nervous about being on camera and trying not to cry cause I get so emotional. Then in the third question, I realized that it would be perfect if he proposed… and then he did! My heart stopped for a moment and I was shocked, but also the happiest I have ever been. I couldn’t stop smiling and all I kept thinking was that I was so excited to know that I was going to be marrying my best friend.” How amazing is that?! For their engagement session, they wanted to bring it back to their roots where they met – Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland! Traveling is such a passion of mine, so I am all for traveling for sessions or weddings! When Greg and P suggested Loyola, I was pumped to pack up my car and head out. The campus is small but has so many gorgeous nooks to photograph in. These two were so much fun to explore with and it was really amazing (and nostalgic for them) getting to hear their stories from the spots we visited, like where they’d sit together and study to the dorm where it all began!

Greg and P, thank you so much for choosing me to document your story! I absolutely love being a part of the progression from proposal to wedding day. You two are seriously some of the kindest people I’ve ever met, and I’m so thankful to know you’ll both be in my life for many, many years to come!
