I got a call from my brother, Coby, one day saying, “Okay, so here’s the plan…” and since that call, we’ve been planning this adorable surprise proposal for his best friend, Greg, and Greg’s girlfriend, Patricia. Last year, I made a video for a class called “Appreciation” where I interviewed five different couples and asked them all the same three questions. They answered the first two questions separately and then answered the last one together. The couples were so honest and candid that it made for some really wonderful footage to work with. I found out recently that Greg and Patricia had seen the video a while back and really liked it!

Coby and Greg thought of countless ways to ask this sweet girl to be his wife, and that’s when they stumbled upon that video again. Here’s what that plan ended up being: I was going to pretend that I was making a continuation of that video for my class this year, and that I wanted Greg and Patricia to be a part of it. We chose new questions that could be tailored toward a proposal in the end, and planned for all of the little details so it would be absolutely perfect. I reached out to them both (after having Greg approve all of my texts to make sure they were exactly what he wanted) and told them about my project; they were both super excited (and a little nervous) to be a part of it! Patricia goes, “Anytime! I’m excited for it.” and Greg went along with it by saying “Ditto what Patricia said, thanks for thinking of using us!” We were all set!

Coby has a house in Atlantic City, NJ that has a beautiful loft full of natural light. It was perfect for the video, and luckily these two agreed to make the trip down to AC just for my “project,” so  sweet! I went over all my lines with my brother before they arrived to calm my nerves haha!! I’m not a videographer, but I know how to set a camera up on a tripod and let it run… it worked out great :). Needless to say, everything went exactly as planned, and she said yes! I overheard Patricia say to Greg, “this is so surreal” and “I can’t stop looking at it!” They were both SO happy as we popped champagne, called all their friends and family, and celebrated at a local bar together. Check out the video here! I’m so glad I was able to be a part of their special day and give them photos and video to share with their family for many years to come. Congratulations, Greg and Patricia! Wishing you both all the best, you deserve it more than anything!
