Their Session: In-Home, Hoboken NJ

Okay FIRST OFF, these two are so freaking CUTE and so much fun to hang out with! Alexa and Doug were seriously so sweet, giggly, and fun together and I loved that we got the perfect mixture of playful and intimate photos! They were all about the playful and silly shots as Alexa and Doug walked their dogs out by the waterfront in Hoboken and then they looked so darn cute as they snuggled up on the couch together back at their apartment! Their parents tagged along at the session so they could take the dogs when they needed a little break! Good thing too, because doggo modeling is hard work!!

I adored the in-home part of this session because it encompassed so much of what Alexa and Doug love – cozy cuddles, music, drinks, playing with their fur babies, and just simply being TOGETHER. I really LOVE that these photos will always be so special to these two because they were taken on one of the last few days of living in their apartment before they moved out! 

Their Love Story

Three years ago on St. Patrick’s Day, Alexa and her friend Sarah decided last minute to go get a drink at a bar. They picked the only bar that was playing Irish music, which as it turned out was the same bar that Doug and his friends were at that day! They talked briefly and then Alexa left with her friend, never expecting to see Doug again. About two weeks later though, she ran into him again at that same bar! This time Doug was celebrating his brother’s birthday, so they started talking again and he introduced Alexa to everyone he was with!

Alexa never thought that she would be surprised by a proposal, but Doug got her good! One weekend they had plans to go to brunch before going to watch Doug’s brother play a gig at a local bar in their hometown. While they were getting ready at their apartment Doug found a business card Alexa had from a jewelry store. They had been planning on moving out and into a house soon so she knew an engagement was coming, but not just yet. Doug picked up the card and said, “This thing again? I’m really sorry I just can’t afford a ring right now with saving up for a house and all.. do you still love me?” Alexa came running out of the room and told him, “OMG of course I do! You crazy!” But Doug had a trick up his sleeve because a moment later he got down on one knee and said “Then you wouldn’t mind if I did this?” Alexa immediately started crying and they called their family to share the good news! Afterwards they went to lunch together, only to come back to their apartment fully decorated and filled with their parents, relatives, and pets all there to celebrate!

I literally had THE MOST fun with you two ever! I loved hanging out with you as you popped champagne, played the ukulele, danced, and lounged around your sweet apartment! Doug was such a trooper, despite not being all about the photos (don’t worry, you’re not alone – most guys aren’t!) but you absolutely CRUSHED it! I am so happy that I met you both and cannot wait for your farmhouse wedding at Crossed Keys Estate in April! Woot woot!
