Their Wedding: Knowlton Mansion, Philadelphia, PA

When it comes to days to remember forever, Erin and Nate’s Knowlton Mansion wedding day takes the cake! From their gorgeous details to the beautiful weather to an emotional ceremony to a wild dance floor, their day had it all! We had so much fun capturing these two and their loved ones from the moment we arrived! The emotions of the day said it all – so many years of love, growth, and support coming together on this beautiful September day.

As much as we work on a seamless timeline for months, it’s so common that something little goes awry on a wedding day (typically something out of anyone’s control). However, I kept thinking “pinch me, how is this real?” because our timeline went off without a hitch! We ended up with plenty of extra time for Erin and Nate to relax and party with their fave people, and it was SO nice having built in buffer time for them to just soak in their day and enjoy every minute!

My favorite though was at the end of the night when Nate was enjoying his cigar bar and Erin shimming her fringe party dress on the dance floor. Someone came up to me and said, “I love how much you love what you do” because I had the biggest smile on my face photographing the party!

Their Love Story

Erin told me all about their 10 years together, and it’s just the sweetest story! She said, “Nate and I started dating when we were very young – 17 and 18! We felt connected instantly, started dating only a few weeks after we met, and have been together ever since. The unique part of our relationship is we have been together for so many of life’s major milestones – prom (!!!), finding ourselves in college, moving away from home together, falling in love with Philly (my favorite era of ours), grad school, getting adult jobs, being parents to our dog Phoebe (the center of our universe), and sooo much more! We’ve seen each other at our best and our worst, we’ve given each other the space to grow as individuals, and have grown so much as a couple over the years. Our wedding day will mark 10 years together, and I cannot wait to share that special day with Nate, and all the people who have been there along the way.”

Their Proposal

Nate and Erin always take a mini-vacation to break up the monotony of the cold winter months. A few years ago, they booked an Airbnb at Rehobeth Beach in Delaware, which is a very special place to them since they’re both from DE and have made so many memories at this beach together!

She shared, “I had a feeeeeling an engagement was coming, since Nate and I know each other so well, I could tell he had been acting a little secretive in the week leading up to the engagement.” After brunch Nate asked if she wanted to walk along the beach with him in the freezing cold 15 degree weather! Their adrenaline was pumping so hard that the cold didn’t even phase them, and it made the day just that much more memorable!

Halfway into their walk, Nate took the ring out of his pocket and got down on one knee! She jumped up in the air with excitement and was so happy it was finally happening! She remembers, “Time really did stand still for a moment as I just took it all in – it was truly perfect! We were completely alone on the beach which was super romantic, and I snapped a selfie right afterwards! It’s one of my favorite pictures ever because you can still see the tears in our eyes and the joy radiating off of us!” LOVE that they had this private moment to soak it all in!

It was important to them that the beautiful character of their venue was highlighted along with all the joy, love, tears, and warmth between them and their loved ones! The natural, candid shots where you can feel the couple’s love and joy through the photos were key, and I think we managed to capture exactly that – all the feels!
