Handsewn needlepoint boutonnieres and table runners, DIY wildflower bouquets, a yacht cruise around Manhattan, and the happiest couple ever make for a pretty unbelievable wedding day! Brontë and Robert have been such a joy throughout their entire wedding planning process from the moment they reached out to their gorgeous NYC engagement session in the chilly winter to their big day! I could not have asked for a kinder couple to grab vegan sushi with and celebrate getting their story published in the New York Times with!
We started the morning very early (4:30 am wake up call!!), but it was SO worth it for the adorable morning preparation shots of Brontë and her ladies and Bob and his groomsmen getting ready! These bridesmaids had smiles on their faces even when they were half asleep; they were so on top of wrapping Brontë’s bouquet in a needlepoint lace wrap, doing hair and makeup, and getting everything in check for the day ahead! I was so impressed and thankful for their kind hearts throughout the entire day!
We headed over to the church for their first look in the room where they met – read the whole story here! It was such an intimate, beautiful moment reliving where they first met on such an important day! Seeing the man she was soon to marry caused the first of many adorable Brontë cries that day. We had so much extra time for portraits, which makes this little photographer heart burst with excitement, so we headed over to Central Park nearby and got some of the dreamiest photos of them! Funny enough, we had to dodge the morning marathon runners and shoot around all of the marathon festivities; we had runners yelling ‘congratulations’ to these two as we were photographing! Thankfully, we found secluded parts of the park to get some great photos in with that amazing morning light! 🙂
During their intimate Sealing ceremony that included close family members, Bob created a thoughtful and informative video for their guests to enjoy while they tied the knot! The video walked their guests through Bob and Brontë’s story and what a Sealing is. After family portraits, bridal party portraits, and some more bride and groom photos that we snuck in, everyone headed over to the yacht cruise to get the party started! Before taking off, they held a Ring Exchange ceremony for all of the guests to experience that special part of the wedding day. The Bishop, friends, and family gave the happy couple many kinds words of encouragement and advice, sang a beautiful song, and cheered them on as they started their marriage!
On the cruise, Brontë’s father kept the crowd tearing up with his heartfelt speech to his daughter and new son-in-law. He talked about how Brontë had always loved Pocahontas as a little girl and how he would always be her John Smith. He kindly asked Bob to now take over as Brontë’s new John Smith and to take care of his little princess forever. I cried as he said those words, and I’m crying as I write about it again! There is nothing like the love of a parent! <3 Some of my other favorite moments of the day included the cruise taking us under the Brooklyn Bridge and up close to The Statue of Liberty, Bob’s unreal dance moves at garter time where he whipped off his jacket, and taking a picture with Bob, Brontë, Bob’s sister Angela and her fiancé David, and Daniella, my second photographer, who are all my 2018 couples! Brontë and Bob, thank you both so much for being so much fun through everything! I am so excited for you two to start this new adventure together, and I wish you both nothing but the absolute best in life!! Thank you for allowing me to document your special day and congratulations! Xoxo
