Their Session: Jockey Hollow, Morristown, NJ

Oooh these two are such a dream to photograph! I had a mentoring session in Morristown with the lovely, Brenna Marie, who is absolutely crushing the photography game, and Brie and Scott were kind enough to model for her session! In case you don’t know – I offer a few different types of mentoring sessions and one of my favorites is the All The Things package! It allows for plenty of deep-dive Q&A time, updated headshots, and a live mini session with a couple to learn about my posing and directing style! Brenna rocked her session and has such an amazing direction with her business! I’m so excited to see her grow and thrive in this industry!

Brie and Scott were one of the many couples impacted by COVID when it came to planning their wedding! Instead of letting it get them down, they’ve turned it into such a positive and found fun new ways to spice up their intimate wedding that they’re now planning! They told me that this session was really the reminder they needed of their love – with all of the craziness and stresses of wedding planning during a pandemic, sometimes it’s easy to lose sight of the most important part – each other. I’m so glad Brenna and I were able to gift them a night to feel those butterflies, chills, and all those happy feels again! They’re going to have such an incredibly special intimate wedding with gorgeous antique, vintage touches that are totally their vibe!

What I love about these two is their positivity during a crazy time. Brie said, “What I hope to remember most about our day is the love felt – between Scott and I, amongst the intimate group of guests attending, and even out in the ethers of people watching our ceremony virtually. Although our day isn’t going to be what we originally planned, and the process of replanning a wedding (safely) amongst a pandemic has felt so stressful, I hope that our day feels laid back and free-spirited like us. One of the things I’m most looking forward to is our vows — I love handwritten cards and no matter the holiday, I always look forward to a card from Scott… so our vows kind of feel like the most special card I’ll ever receive.”

Their Love Story

Scott and Brie met in high school! They had a fling at the time and spent some time apart after graduation. They stayed in touch throughout college and they both always felt like there was unfinished business between the two of them! While Scott was attending culinary school, he became very close with one of their mutual best friends. When Brie came home after graduating from college, she spent most of her time with the two of them, so it’s really thanks to their friend that we were able to reconnect! Scott started working at a new restaurant and was invited to another restaurant where he could bring a guest! Scott asked their mututal close friend and about five other friends to go with him, but they were all busy so eventually, he asked Brie, and she said yes! They are both so thankful that everyone else was busy because that night was the start of their now eight-year love story! 🙂 Brie says she mostly remembers laughing a lot and feeling like they needed to spend more time together. It felt like they needed to make up for the years we were apart! How sweet it that?! It’s all about just finding or re-finding each other at the right time!
Brie told me all about how Scott proposed, and it’s a good one!! She said, “We took a trip to Ireland with Scott’s parents and siblings in April 2019. Ireland was on both our bucket lists and it was such a magical place. Scott and I rented a car and ventured off on our own for a day to the Cliffs of Moher. We listened to Maggie Rogers along the way and stopped at the cutest restaurant. Scott was cool as a cucumber. Once we got to the cliffs, Scott insisted on parking along a sketchy side street instead of driving to the top. We walked out to the cliffs where Scott dropped on one knee and proposed with my Mom’s vintage ring! To my surprise, there was a photographer capturing the whole thing. Maybe the biggest surprise of all was that I didn’t cry. I was so taken aback by the view and overwhelmed with happiness, I felt like I was living outside my body. Afterward, Scott layered on another surprise by booking us a room at a whimsical little bed and breakfast nearby where we spent the night. It was the most perfect day.”
Here’s what they adore most about one another from both of them! From Brie: “What I love most about Scott is his ability to go with the flow and always make me laugh. He makes mundane activities like grocery shopping fun and reminds me to take life less seriously.” From Scott: “Oooof where to begin. Brie possesses so many beautiful qualities it is truly a difficult task to just pick one. If I must choose just ONE it would be her ability to love me unconditionally. To see all my magic, and to remind me of it when I have forgotten.” Uhm, anyone else have the chills?!
