Their Elopement: Otter Cliffs, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Maine

If you would have asked me a few months ago if I thought I’d be photographing this dream elopement in Acadia National Park, I would have thought you were crazy. That’s not on the calendar – how could it be?! Buuut let me tell you, COVID has had a funny way of bringing some truly beautiful and magical new joys my way. Jacqueline and I had been chatting about their wedding day plans for next year as their plans, unfortunately, had to change a bit! Jacq mentioned to me that her and Thomas were planning to elope in Maine so they could finally be married! I mean, these high school sweethearts have been waiting for this day for yeaaars! I don’t blame them for wanting to finally be able to call each other husband and wife!

Jacqueline and Thomas thought it might be a long shot to ask me to make the trip out to Maine, but due to all of the rescheduling that has happened – I had the weekend they wanted available! We pulled some strings and changed some plans, and next thing I knew, my boyfriend, Shawn, and I were booking our hotel and creating our travel itinerary for a weekend getaway in Acadia National Park. A dream location for us!

I’m so so glad Jacqueline and Thomas put their trust in me not only for their engagement session and wedding day, but also for their elopement! It’s the biggest honor knowing I’ve been able to capture their love story in such a special way! It was such a perfect day from the thoughtful details to the dreamy, haziness that created such an epic mood for their ceremony at Otter Cliff!

We also spent the evening before capturing a fun sunset adventure session, which had a crazy sunset and beautiful mountain views! You can check it out here!!

Their Love Story

J & T met in high school and have been together ever since. They dated long-distance throughout college and still made it work! Now, they’re living together in their first home, which is absolutely adorable and styled perfectly with Jacqueline’s decor expertise!

Jacqueline told me, “Thomas and I were traveling to Italy for a trip. He surprised me with a train trip to St. Moritz, Switzerland through the Swiss Alps. He proposed there and hired a secret photographer!! It was so special :)” Their proposal images hang beautifully in their bedroom at home, and I hope they continue adding to their printed collection with some of these beauties from their elopement!

Thomas, the ambitious and kind one, is the best person Jacqueline knows, she says! “He is so kind and caring. He is so determined in everything he does. After a long day of work, he always comes home happy! I admire that. After my 8 hour day, I always complain LOL!” Jacqueline, who is so caring and bubbly, in Thomas’ eyes is “selfless. She always truly wants what’s best for the people she loves. She’s beautiful inside and out.” How adorable are they?!

Jacqueline and Thomas,

Wow, you two amaze me! Endlessly. Thank you for having the biggest hearts and positive outlooks on life. You’ve handled all of these changes with so much optimism and it’s so admirable to see how you two flow through change together. Your love is powerful, beautiful, and so inspiring. I’m so glad I could witness your marriage, and that we get to celebrate it again next year! Congratulations you two!!! Love you so so much! xo

Want to see more Acadia goodness?!

Here is a mini couples session I shot of J & T’s videographer duo, Jordan and Kiersti right before the adventure session at Bluehill Overlook!
