It’s incredible how full-circle life happens sometimes! My family had gone to the Verizon store a few years ago with my grandma who loves to chat it up with anyone she meets! She struck up a conversation with the man working at the store, who ended up telling her that he was newly engaged!
She sang my praises and told him her granddaughter was a wedding photographer, which happened to be the one thing Rachel, his fiancé at the time, had given him as a task! He ended up reaching out to me, thanks to my sweet grandmother, and we totally hit it off! It took a bit of time for them to settle in on a date and perfect venue, so when the time came that they needed to book their photographer, they chose me! I couldn’t be more thankful that they took a chance on a grandmother’s granddaughter because their wedding day was all sorts of perfection, just like they are as a couple.
Getting to know these two has been so special from exploring their alma mater, FDU, to seeing them tie the knot on their big day at Westin Governor Morris in Morristown, NJ. These two basketball-loving babes have a love so strong that they can truly get through anything.
They didn’t know they would have to go through some of the hardest times before they even made it to their wedding day, but to see them both standing there at the front of the aisle, amidst all the challenges Ty faced with his health during the last few months was truly so powerful. I can’t even explain how thankful I am to have been a small piece of their love story!
Rachel and Tymiak met at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Ty was on his recruit visit to the school for basketball and he spotted Rachel in the basketball gym during her team’s practice. Ty says he was trying to focus on his visit, but after seeing her, he just knew that there was something special about her!
On his visit, Ty was wearing pink sneakers, so he ended up changing his Facebook profile picture to a picture of his pink sneakers before sending Rachel a friend request just so she would know who he was! Smart guy! 🙂 They got to know each other while he was still living in Virginia, and after some time, they began dating and became the ‘love and basketball’ couple of college! We took advantage of their love for basketball at their session and they threw on their uniforms to show off their passion!
Ty proposed in the gym where they first met when they went to visit for homecoming! Their families, friends, coaches, and teammates were all there hiding behind the drapes as Ty and Rachel played basketball for a little bit. He gave them all a cue and they came out from behind the drapes making a ton of noise! She turned around to see him on his knee with a ring in his hand! 🙂
Congratulations on the start of your forever! I’m beyond excited that you’re finally married and can continue to do life together! This has been such a fun, exciting, and memorable process with you two, and I’m excited to see where life takes you from here!! Love you bunches, congrats!
