Their Session: Asbury Park, NJ

This colorful Asbury Park engagement session was FULL of laughter and so many sweet moments! Catherine and Tiago brought allll the wildly fun energy to their session, and I loved getting to capture all the giggles and kisses as the sun set at the beach! Asbury Park is always a unique spot for creative, lively, and vibrant couples with its artsy, laidback vibes.

Catherine and Tiago picked so many fun spots to hit along the boardwalk! We started at the iconic carousel building before heading to the Stone Pony where they reminisced on some great punk rock concerts they’ve been to. Then, as the sky was glowy and golden, we made our way to the mural walls and beach I always love the rock jetty by the ocean for dynamic texture against the pastel sky! It makes for a fun spot to explore and get your feet a bit wet!

Catherine rocked her favorite checkered Vans, and they showed off their love of Pokemon with two Pokemon balls (perfect for a unique ring photo)! It’s always so cool when my couples make their session uniquely their own with special details like these!

Their Love Story

Tiago and Catherine met online 6 years ago! Their first date was in New Brunswick at Destination Dogs where they laughed, ate, and people-watched. They stayed in touch over the years, and then truly connected in the fall of 2022! They have been together and inseparable ever since. As Tiago says “It was the right people, right time, and the journey we are on is only the beginning.”

She shares that he has brought so much light into her life with endless laughs and genuine happiness. She said, “I feel the love in our quiet moments… From walking around playing Pokemon to eating tacos while watching a show on Hulu.” They even went back to Destination Dogs to recreate their very first date!

Tiago proposed in the most heartfelt and genuine way – at home as she made the bed! She turned around and he was on his knee. She said, “I cried, laughed, and couldn’t contain the happiness and love I felt in that moment.” They were heading on a getaway to Maine, so they celebrated with Lobster Rolls and beautiful views!

When I asked what qualities they love about one another, Tiago said he admires her kindness towards others and that she will always help people no matter what. Catherine adores his intelligence, loving nature, and how calm he is in moments of chaos. She said that he would drop anything to help out family and friends.
