Sabrina messaged me on Instagram back in February and said, “I have a story for you but it’s too long for Instagram,” so I gave her my number and waited eagerly for what it could possibly be! I won’t do the story justice, so I’m just going to copy her message that brought me to tears and had me smiling from ear to ear. It was hands down one of the best messages I’ve ever received and reassured me that I am truly doing exactly what I know I am meant to do in my life.
She said, “Hey girl 💕 I have so much to tell you. Basically, my engagement story because it all started with you!! Of course you, Sebastian, and I have been trying to work together for a few years now and we always talk about it! Even though our schedules haven’t aligned yet, it’s something we always, always think about. Well, Seb came to visit me [in California] and we went to San Diego for the weekend. It’s our favorite place to be. We have our one special spot that is in Windansea Beach, we have this secret little entrance that takes you down to the water but you have to hike down sand, rocks and coves to get to it. So it’s like an adventure for us because we know the end is such a reward with the perfect views. But we also have to help each other along our little hiking obstacles too which is always funny. This time we went and it was cold and windy and the water was up so high we couldn’t do our usual walk. We ended up going as far as we could and found a little cove to stand in and watch the ocean from where the wind wasn’t too strong. As we were watching the ocean and taking some pictures, a couple walked by with a photographer. Seb asked, “what do you think they’re doing?” I said, “Probably taking engagement photos! I feel bad it’s so cloudy for them though” he said, “What do you think our engagement photos will look like?” At first, I jokingly said, “hard style” we both laughed but I said, “I would love them outdoors and of course we both know Tori is taking them.” So I pulled up your Instagram and we were looking at the pictures you’ve posted admiring them all. And he said to me, “you should call her!” And at first, I didn’t say anything because I didn’t think anything of it. So he said it again, “no really you should call her!” And I asked why? And turned around. And there he was on one knee asking me to be his wife and spend the rest of our lives together. All thanks to you Tori 😘💕 we love you!! And we, of course, love your work and we would love to finallllly work together!!! We couldn’t imagine anyone but you to be the one to take our engagement photos if you would be interested in doing so 😊💕”
So, OBVIOUSLY, my heart exploded and I cried and I was the happiest mess ever. We seriously have been trying to coordinate a photoshoot for years, so getting to make that happen finally with the two of them was so rewarding. I have, of course, been counting down for months until their engagement session to not only photograph such an incredibly cool couple but also just to write this blog post! I considered sharing her message to me on my Instagram the moment it happened, but I decided I wanted to keep it special and save it for their blog post. Thankfully, the day has come where I can overload this post with the most adorable in-home engagement session photos with an even more adorable couple. These two light up when they look at each other, they have the sweetest after-kiss smiles, and the best laughs I’ve ever seen.
Typically, I try to guide my couples when choosing a location to find a place that holds significance to them. Sabrina and Seb weren’t sure where they wanted to go, so I suggested maybe finding an Airbnb and making a mini vacation out of it! This home was flooded with beautiful natural light and surrounded by chickens and piggies :)! We were right near Nina’s Waffles & Ice Cream, the place where they went on their first date! After having them spend time inside making coffee, cuddling on the bed, and having a pillow fight, we ventured out to the farm to capture all their cuteness outdoors like they had said they wanted! We got to revisit Nina’s and walk around the downtown area, and let them end their night with a nice dinner since they were already all dressed up! I could not have asked for a better day – Sabrina and Seb were up for everything from cuddling on the kitchen floor with their coffees to biting each other’s tongues out in the tall wheat field (wuttt, it’s cute I swear)! I was seriously saying over and over “this is my favorite session in the world” and “this is the best thing I’ve ever done” in my head as I was editing their gallery (hours of editing makes me go a little crazy, I need encouragement to push through 😂). They truly embody everything I adore in the couples I love to photograph: passionate, adventurous souls who laugh hard and love harder and are always up for something new and different.
Sabrina and Seb met a few years back at Englishtown Raceway Park. Seb is actively involved in the Drifting Motorsport community and has been helping with track organization for a few years. Seb and Sabrina’s brother, Joey, had become friends at the track, so when he went over to Joey’s friend group at an event one night, Sabrina caught Seb’s eye almost immediately. He wasn’t aware of who she was or anything about her at all, but, right away, he knew he wanted to get to know her. Another friend in the group brought Sabrina onto the track where the drivers and workers were, and Seb saw this as an opportunity to start up a conversation. After some small talk and mild flirting, she got into a race car for a ride around the track. Sebastian was making his rounds up and down the starting line, flustered with infatuation knowing that she was in the seat. He walked passed the car and with a starting flag in his hand, he gave her a light hit on the helmet with the wooden end of the flag stick. She couldn’t forget that moment when the cute boy from the racetrack hit her in the head with a stick. Thankfully, the tap on her helmet lightened the mood and getting to know each other was much easier after that. For the rest of the night, they didn’t leave each others’ side and they both just knew they were meant to be! 🙂 Uhhh, excuse me, is this an actual movie?! Such a perfect meeting story! <3
Sabrina and Seb, if you can’t tell already how obsessed I am with you two, let this blog post speak for itself with how many pictures I had to squeeze into it! Thank you both so much for being so amazing to work with. I always strive to have clients become more like friends from the moment they reach out, and it really felt like I was hanging out with old friends during your session. You’re both so awesome, and I am so grateful to have been a part of this exciting time in your lives! Congratulations on your engagement! Love you both!! <3
