Their Session: Asbury Park, NJ

These two are such a fun pair – they truly know how to keep one another laughing no matter what! I love that they incorporated their huuuge love of pizza at their session! We grabbed a pizza to go from Porta and then headed down to the Asbury Park boardwalk to enjoy it! The pizza was a must! 🙂 Trying to eat pizza and look cute is not an easy task, and these two totally crushed it! We were able to capture so much of their love in this beautiful location from the colorful boardwalk to a gorgeous sunset on the beach! What made me happiest was knowing that Marissa was actually pretty hesitant about even planning an engagement session (even though Paul is a photographer himself and knew this session would be so special for them!), and she ended up loving the photos so much in the end! It was such a fun evening getting to see how these two connect and play off of one another!

Their Love Story

These two have a wild and super sweet love story! Here’s what Marissa told me, “Where to start?! My fiancé and I met on November 14th, 2015 at my sorority little’s engagement party. She had been hoping to set me up with her older brother but his best friend happened to be at the party and they decided the two of us should meet instead. After a very awkward intro and enough drinks, I decided to go back up to him and chat – about a month and a half later we were dating, and the rest is history!” There were so many funny little details that went into their meeting story that they both dug into, and I loved getting to hear how that evening went down from both of their perspectives!

Paul proposed on Marissa’s birthday in July! They went out for the day and his sister snuck into the apartment to decorate with prosecco, balloons, and a cute little banner when they went out. He proposed at the end of the day when they got back home! His sister thought they had left earlier in the day, so she tried to sneak in while they were still in the apartment! Paul panicked and basically tried to blockade the front door, and Marissa thought they were dealing with a break-in! It led to major panic, but luckily she brought a birthday balloon and cake so he was able to come up with a quick excuse that she was coming to drop them off for her birthday. I love that Paul knew that proposing at home would be the perfect way to ask Marissa. Once he asked, she immediately asked him to tell her EVERY detail of the plan!

These two both love getting out of town and going somewhere by the beach or somewhere green. Delicious Orchards, Point Pleasant, and Days Ice Cream in Ocean Grove are big favorites for them! They just like getting out and enjoying each other’s company without distractions, phones off, just the two of them. They really cherish quiet one-on-one days.

Marissa & Paul,

I had so much fun hanging out with you two and getting to know you better! You’re so much fun and I love hearing all your stories and wild adventures! I can’t wait to celebrate your marriage this November! It’s going to be such an amazing day! xo
