Their Session: Central Park, New York City, NY

Kara and Mark’s spring Central Park engagement session was such a memorable evening! We stopped at so many iconic spots that felt like they were straight out of a movie! Despite it being a busy evening with a college graduation finishing up, we were able to find many pockets of peace and quiet along the way.

Central Park is an amazing location for a New York City engagement session with its classic, timeless vibe, which fit Kara and Mark’s aesthetics perfectly. They planned 3 unique outfits from a casual look to start us off to a bridal white gown for the terrace and bridge, and then a chic navy silk dress to end the evening by the water! I brought along this pop-up changing tent that helped make changing outfits in public so much easier!

With unique backdrops like Bethesda Terrace, Bow Bridge, and the Ladies Pavilion, we captured so much variety for these two to celebrate such an exciting milestone! They were full of giggles that made this session SO much fun – truly can’t wait for their wedding day next spring!

Their Love Story

Kara & Mark’s story started like a Hallmark movie! They met at a hometown bar post-college where their friendship began. Kara and Mark both work in different creative design fields. He tried to compare their design jobs and she challenged him on it; he was immediately smitten!

The friends they were with became an inseparable group, and Mark & Kara kicked off a two-year flirtation! One night out when Mark took Kara home, they accidentally got locked out of the apartment in the pouring rain. Sitting in the stairwell of Mark’s first apartment building on 96th Street, they said, “romance was undeniably in the air and Kara made her move. March 2020 rolled around, and Kara & Mark went up to Vermont for few days. Covid got real that weekend, the world was shutting down, and their weekend getaway as a couple became two weeks alone in Vermont. It could have gone a few ways, but those two weeks together made them realize this could be something really special.” How incredible is that?!

A few years later, they went back to Vermont for another long weekend. They shared, “Surrounded by mountains and trees and with the snow gently falling, Mark proposed.”

When I asked what they love about one another, Kara shared, “Mark knows how I am feeling or what I am thinking before I even do, and is doing something about it just as quickly. He makes me laugh and appreciates me when I am silly too, although I do think I can out goof him… he does give me a run for my money and can make me giggle like no one else.” Seeing how quickly they could get each other to laugh during their session confirmed this!

Mark adores how funny Kara is and that she always knows how to make him laugh. He said, “I appreciate how smart and hardworking she is. Always takes time out of her day to be there for me and the cats. She is super generous by nature and always puts others before herself.”

Together, they love ordering takeout, going home from events early, cooking, and exploring museums and galleries!

Kara & Mark,

Oh my goodness, you two are such a fun and sweet couple, and I absolutely loved capturing your connection in a location that’s so meaningful to you!
