Their Wedding: Crossed Keys Estate, Andover, NJ

I’ve been daydreaming about this boho-chic summer Crossed Keys Estate wedding day ever since these two reached out!! Alexa and Doug are truly such sweethearts, and their wedding day was so full of joy, laughter, and so much love! After many changes to their original wedding plans, they still embraced all that their day was and had a blast together! A little rain on their parade couldn’t stop us from creating magic! And the most incredible part of it all?! These cuties became parents to the sweetest little boy just a few weeks before their big day! Keep scrolling, baby Chase makes some special appearances!

I loved every moment of their day from their intimate first look, taking shots with their wedding party, their stunning ceremony against the amazing windows, and the emotional toasts! It’s so clear that everyone sees how perfect Alexa and Doug are for one another. They’re such a beautiful balance and compliment to the other! They’re such amazing parents and they just lit up when Chase came out for photos! <3 It was also a blast getting to work with some of my fave vendor friends – Samantha Linn of Makeup by Samantha Linn & Julie Finnerty of Styles on Location!

It’s been the biggest honor photographing these two! We shot their engagement session, maternity session, and now their wedding together! It means so much when my couples continually choose me for their milestones!

Their Love Story

A few years ago on St. Patrick’s Day, Alexa and her friend Sarah decided last minute to go get a drink at a bar. They picked the only bar that was playing Irish music, which as it turned out was the same bar that Doug and his friends were at that day! They talked briefly and then Alexa left with her friend, never expecting to see Doug again. About two weeks later though, she ran into him again at that same bar! This time Doug was celebrating his brother’s birthday, so they started talking again and he introduced Alexa to everyone he was with!

Alexa never thought that she would be surprised by a proposal, but Doug got her good! One weekend they had plans to go to brunch before going to watch Doug’s brother play a gig at a local bar in their hometown. While they were getting ready at their apartment Doug found a business card Alexa had from a jewelry store. They had been planning on moving out and into a house soon so she knew an engagement was coming, but not just yet. Doug picked up the card and said, “This thing again? I’m really sorry I just can’t afford a ring right now with saving up for a house and all.. do you still love me?” Alexa came running out of the room and told him, “OMG of course I do! You crazy!” But Doug had a trick up his sleeve because a moment later he got down on one knee and said “Then you wouldn’t mind if I did this?” Alexa immediately started crying and they called their family to share the good news! Afterward, they went to lunch together, only to come back to their apartment fully decorated and filled with their parents, relatives, and pets all there to celebrate!
