Their Session: Sandy Hook, NJ

I was so excited to get back to Sandy Hook for a stunning sunset session with one of my TKP wedding couples! If these two look cuties familiar to you, you may be thinking of their adorable Hoboken in-home engagement session! Although they had to reschedule their full wedding day due to the pandemic, Alexa and Doug tied the knock at an intimate park ceremony on their original wedding date! They’re so excited to welcome their little one into the world and have their sweet baby join them on their wedding day this July!!

It was such an honor to get them in front of my camera again before their wedding day! I love getting to see so many beautiful milestones for my couples from engagement to pregnancies, wedding days and anniversaries years later! I’m so glad we were able to make this session happen before their baby arrives!

Their Love Story:

A few years back on St. Patrick’s Day, Alexa and her friend grabbed some drinks at a bar on a whim! They happened to pick the only bar that was playing Irish music, which was the same bar Doug and his friends chose that same day! They talked for a bit and never expected to see Doug again after that day! Two weeks went by and she ran into him again at that same bar! They started talking again and hit it off from there! How cute?!

Doug was able to totally surprise Alexa with a perfect proposal! They were planning to go to brunch before seeing Doug’s brother play a gig at a local bar in their hometown. While they were getting ready, Doug found a jewelry store business card that Alexa had. They were planning to move into a house soon, so she knew an engagement was coming, but she wasn’t expecting it just yet! Doug showed her the card and said, “This thing again? I’m really sorry I just can’t afford a ring right now with saving up for a house and all.. do you still love me?” Alexa ran out of the room and told him, “OMG of course I do! You crazy!”

Just a moment later, he got down on one knee and said “Then you wouldn’t mind if I did this?” 🙂 She started crying right away, and they called their family to share the exciting news! They went to lunch together and came back to their apartment fully decorated and filled with their parents, relatives, and pets all there to celebrate! How sweet is that?! Doug totally nailed this proposal!!
