Their Wedding: Waterloo Village, Stanhope, NJ

Amanda and Ryan planned the most gorgeous nature-centered wedding this summer at Waterloo Village! These two are super outdoorsy and love nature, plants, trees, and wildflowers! They brought that love for all things greenery into their big day in such a perfect way! With wildflower bouquets, a first look on a bridge surrounded by trees, a ceremony under a stunning tree, plants all over their home for getting ready, we were all immersed in greenery all day!

Although the pandemic threw them for a loop and made them reschedule their wedding, they still chose to tie the knot last year on their original date! It was so special that they could celebrate their marriage with friends and family at Waterloo Village with no masks and plenty of love!

Amanda and Ryan are such a joy to be around – they just light up when they’re together! It’s so clear that they’re just the best of friends, and totally get one another so well! They make each other laugh like none other and know how to have a good time no matter what they’re doing! I loved getting to capture that love between them on their special day!

Their Love Story

Amanda and Ryan met through a mutual friend from high school. Amanda says that Ryan’s friend Lew had texted her (and I quote! :P) “My friend Ryan Catton thinks you’re a babe and you should text him.” The BEST part though is that Amanda told him that Ryan would have to text her instead, and of course he did! After their first day of texting, Amanda learned that Ryan was a total biology nerd and knew that she HAD to meet him!

While Amanda was completing a Veterinary rotation out in Boulder, CO, Ryan flew in from New Jersey to spend the week with her. Together they visited the Fourth of July Trailhead in Nederland, CO two days later and decided to go hiking! After 3 miles on the trail, Amanda had to take a pit stop, so Ryan took this opportunity to secretly ask some strangers to take a picture as he was going to propose! Amanda told me how they “came to a clearing where you could see beautiful peaks and he asked if I wanted to take a picture so of course, I said yes. He followed behind me and then told me to turn around, when I turned around he was on one knee with the ring.”

Amanda & Ryan,

Thank you so much for being so amazing to work with from day one! I’ve loved getting to adventure around in the woods and waterfalls with you two for your engagement session and celebrate your marriage this year at Waterloo Village! You two are a dream, and I wish you nothing but the best for all the years to come! Congratulations!! Love you both so much! xo
