Their Proposal: Penn’s Landing, Old City – Philadelphia, PA

I have the privilege of witnessing and capturing so many love stories, but it truly feels different when I know the couple personally and have seen their love story grow over the years firsthand. This Penn’s Landing Philadelphia proposal for my friends Evan and Becca was exactly that!

Evan is one of my husband’s college roommates, so I’ve seen him and Becca go from dating in Philadelphia to becoming rescue dog owners to now getting engaged!!

When Evan approached me to photograph his proposal, I was so excited to be a part of their special moment in a city that means so much to us all. With the help of Evan’s intricate planning and Becca’s friend keeping her busy all day, everything fell into place perfectly.

On a sunny day in August, Evan stood waiting at Penn’s Landing for Becca with the stunning Ben Franklin bridge as a backdrop. I stayed low in the corner behind a brick wall and my longest lens, so she didn’t spot me when she walked up! This location held significance in their love story, as it was right near their first apartment and a place where they shared so many memories over the years.

As Becca arrived, guided by her best friend under the guise of a leisurely stroll, she spotted Evan who was patiently and excitedly waiting (and probably sweating in the blaring sun). With a deep breath and sweet words he had prepared, Evan took a knee and asked Becca to spend forever by his side! She asked if he was sure multiple times, and of course, they both were VERY sure!

Becca was jumping up and down with excitement, and I felt so honored to capture it all sneakily. Once she was able to process what was happening, she finally spotted me! I’m so glad we could get it all on camera so they could cherish the moment forever!

As they shared, “After three moves, two dogs, and one mortgage, Evan was finally ready to propose to Becca.” So many adventures together lead to this perfect moment, and now they get to plan their dream wedding to celebrate!!
