Their Wedding Day

When I think back on this romantic Waterloo Village wedding day, the words that come to mind are genuine and emotional. Every part of the day was full of the most joyful laughter or the sweetest tears and love. These two showed everyone at their wedding was true love really looks like, and how ups and downs can bring a family so close together.

They had such a beautiful first look, a wildly fun wedding party, a tearful ceremony, and an amazing dance floor! I loved getting to catch all the candid, natural moments that came about throughout their day. Especially the ones that included their son, Theo!

One of my favorite little details from their day was the copy of Velveteen Rabbit that was gifted by a loved one to their son, Theo, that was incorporated into Sylvia’s detail photos. It was such a meaningful piece of their story and a unique piece to photograph!

I also got to stay all the way through their after-party, which was such a blast! I loved seeing the brick oven pizza and s’mores flowing as the party continued on!

Their Love Story

These two met online when Sylvia saw that Ryan had an awesome picture of him and his dog! Sylvia fell in love with the dog immediately and wanted to know him so she could get her hands on the pup’s cute little face. She said, “Turns out, I loved them both!”

Their first date was at a bar on St Patrick’s Day, which they didn’t even realize until they were out. Ryan had asked a colleague for some advice on whether he needed a reservation at the particular place, and his friend didn’t realize it was a date and he showed up at the bar! He wandered around for about 10 minutes before Sylvia finally said, “he’s clearly your friend, why don’t you just tell him to sit down!” It ended up being a ton of fun!

Sylvia said, “Ryan is a 90-year-old stuck in a 30-something body and he figured we would have a drink or two and he would head home, be in bed early. Well, we talked for hours and Ryan ended up getting locked out of the parking garage and had to call the emergency number to get out. But if you ask him, I think he will say it was worth it!” How funny for a first date?! It clearly all worked out perfectly! 🙂

Sylvia didn’t see the proposal coming at all! He worked with her friend and their moms to get her the perfect ring. “We took our dogs to one of my favorite beaches early on a Sunday morning and he asked me. It was one of the best days of my life. I was never one of those girls who dreamt of my wedding. I always had ideas but whenever I pictured the bride it was never me. And I don’t think I ever really wanted that until I met him. It’s different with us. It just works. We don’t fight. We love the same things. He loves his family. He loves mine. He’s never said a negative thing to me, no matter what I do (and I’m tough lol I know it). I’ve never met anyone like him before.” How sweet are they?!

Sylvia & Ryan,

It’s been so incredibly special getting to document your love and growing family! I’m so grateful I could take photos of baby Theo when he was so itty bitty at your engagement session, and then seeing him so BIG at your wedding was unreal! Your day was one for the books with all the emotions, joy, laughter, and partying – I’m so grateful you chose me to capture your big day! Wishing you all the best and can’t wait to see all that’s ahead for your family! xo Love you!
