Our Session: Alfama Lisbon, Portugal

Well, well, well – would you look who it is?! Shawn and I got in front of the camera for a change one morning while we were on our trip to Portugal! The amazingly talented wedding photographer, Patricia de Carvalho, woke up extra early to take our sunrise Alfama Lisbon couples session pictures, and we couldn’t be more grateful!

She was SO sweet from the moment I reached out helping us every step of the way. Pat is a pro when it comes to Lisbon, so I fully trusted her location suggestions. The spot we landed on – one of the oldest parts of the city – did not disappoint! We luckily explored Alfama the day before our shoot, which was super helpful since we had to get back there super early the next morning.

As much as I’m used to taking pictures of others, being on the other side of the camera is always a little intimidating! Pat helped to keep it chill, playful, and comfortable the whole way through! We had some little sprinkles of rain throughout the shoot with some gorgeous spurts of glowy sunrise – such a unique mix!

If you’re planning on traveling with your partner, I highly recommend planning a sweet session like this with a local photographer! It’s such a special way to remember a new city and your trip. We haven’t taken professional photos since our wedding day back in August of 2022. I know it’s less common to have random ‘just because’ sessions after you’re married, but I’m so thankful we now have these updated pictures a year and a half into our marriage!
