Sooooo excited to share this stunning Asbury Park wedding at The Berkeley Hotel!!!! Alicia and Max were such a blast to photograph and their incredible details, wedding party, and family made this one extra special for me. My dad is a playwright, actor, and acting teacher, which is where he met Alicia’s mom Mary! She performed in one of his plays, and when Mary heard that I was a wedding photographer, she was so kind to pass on my name to Alicia and Max who were recently engaged! Such a sweet beginning to this connection!
Alicia and Max had a traditional Jewish ceremony and ketubah signing! I always love photographing different cultures and traditions along with different ceremony set-ups! Being that my family is Jewish, it was super meaningful to capture these moments knowing the traditions well. It also really brought the family together in such a beautiful way for the most important part of the wedding day… the marriage itself! The ceremony was set up in a circle around the Chuppah, which was a super special experience for their friends and family!
Asbury Park is so unique that it really feels like its own character in this wedding story. Alicia and Max loved that super fun vibe and wanted to incorporate it while keeping the wedding style simple and elegant, which they nailed! Alicia also mentioned that what they wanted to remember most was “being on the dance floor having a blast with our friends and family.” And omggg, that they did! The wedding party had such incredible energy and one of my fave memories of the night was seeing Alicia and her friends belt out “Shallow” on the dance floor!
Alicia and Max met in college and started dating a few years later! When Max accidentally got lost while driving them to dinner for their first date, they quickly realized how natural being together was with their effortlessly flowing conversation!
Max planned a surprise summer proposal in Brooklyn. Alicia explained “He had one of my friends plan a fake birthday party for the night he wanted to do it, so I didn’t suspect anything. The birthday party was supposed to meet at a restaurant in Brooklyn for dinner, but a few minutes before I got there, the birthday girl texted that she had arrived early and was walking down along the river and that everyone should meet her there. When I walked down to the water, instead of friends, I found Max down on one knee.” Not only a beautiful location and an incredible surprise… but Max even hired a photographer so they have photos of the whole thing! They went to dinner to celebrate and headed back home to tell everyone!
They’ve built a life together where takeout and Netflix is their go-to date night! They also have a cute pup named Nellie, who made an appearance at their super romantic Big Brook Park engagement session! So excited to have been a part of this love story!
Thank you for trusting me to capture such an important milestone! The whole day was beautiful but the attention to detail with your decor and the incredible energy from your wedding party… I’m just obsessed! I wish you the very, very best future together!!!! xoxo Love you!
